The word "QUALITY" is defined in the Webster's Dictionary as "that which belongs to something and makes or helps to make it what it is; superiority; excellence". We agree with Mr. Webster, however in our business we define "QUALITY" as "that which belongs to somebody and makes or helps to make them what they are. It is the people in our Company that define "QUALITY". Quality title people are hard to find. Our philosophy is to maintain a standard of excellence in our work product. We are not always competitive on price and we have lost business as a result, but we have a great number of customers who stay with us because of the quality of our work. That is the biggest advantage in the competitive market. Chicago Title Insurance Agency = well-established reputation for quality work. A track record that wins is repeat business and referrals. Repeat business is a key to success in a slow market. Anyone can offer our product and service for a lower premium. The trend is for business to come from word of mouth and from repeat customers rather than from price shoppers. A sophisticated customer wants value for their money but they also understand that money is not the driving factor anymore. Survey your customers to find out if you are meeting their needs. Sometimes you'll be surprised. We noted that when we surveyed our customers recently, we were surprised to find out that quality ranked first, then reliability and then price. Title companies can partially benefit from customer surveys. A lot of companies think that pricing is the answer to everything. Take a few moments and stroll through your local telephone directory. Under the word "QUALITY" you may find listings of businesses such as Air Conditioning, Builders, Jewelry, Pest Control, Tires, or Used Refrigerators. Our telephone directory included over sixty (60) such listings, however, we did not find a "QUALITY" Title Insurance Company listed. Another trip through the Yellow Pages under the listings of TITLE COMPANIES, you may find such advertising as Champagne Closings; Consulting Attorney On Staff; Prompt Courteous Service; Residential Closings Expedited; Fast Closings; Evenings and Weekend Closings; Personalize Service; Professional Service; Fast Personalized Service; Computerized; and Licensed and Insured. Again, we did not find a Title Company using the word "QUALITY" in their advertising. Your reputation is your greatest asset, not product, not price, not service. Stay close to your customers. Remember: People who buy things have friends. Remember: That it is most important to keep your customers' best interests in mind and to regularly update them on their business transactions. Keeping your customers up-to-date, keeps you in their thoughts and on their minds when they give recommendations to others.
